Sorry not to have contacted you before, but life has been rather busy since our return on Friday. This is really to say that we all enjoyed our holiday at St. Pierre, very much indeed.    We could not fault it - the Course, the food, the staff - in fact everything including the weather.!!   Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their stay. Many thanks for all your organisation - it really worked out well.

Hope all is well with you. Thank you again.

Sheila

We had a great break on the Gower ,you even sorted the weather for us. Thanks to you and your team for organizing everything so well.

John

Just a note to say we had a superb time in Wales last month on our golf break.  Hotel was good and staff were great.  The courses were in great nick and we probably didn't do them justice.  Thanks for the seamless organisation and support.
Best wishes,

Des

Resort Information Guide

There are three hotels at The Celtic Manor Resort. Guests can choose to stay in the luxurious five star Resort Hotel, our four star 19th century Manor House or the Newbridge on Usk, which is located only a stone's throw away from the Resort itself.

Each hotel has its own style and atmosphere, allowing you to choose your ideal surroundings for a relaxing break.

The Resort Hotel
This luxurious five star hotel opened in 1999.  Each one of its 330 bedrooms are beautifully appointed and decorated, where distinctive design and traditional luxury create a calm and relaxing environment.

The selection of luxury suites are individually decorated with picture windows and terraces. Even more indulgent and sumptuous are the two Presidential Suites, one with a baby grand piano.

The Resort Hotel is home to The Olive Tree and Merlins Bar along with the The Forum Health Club and Spa, Forum Café, The Hideaway Club and the Celtic Mall adjacent to reception, which features designer golf and leisurewear from the likes of Tommy Hilfiger and Joules, ladieswear and beautifully presented gifts and souvenirs.

The Manor House Hotel
Long before the new Resort Hotel was built, the historic 19th century Manor House was recognised to be one of the finest hotels in the United Kingdom, winning the Egon Ronay award for the best hotel in Wales for five consecutive years.

Present owner Sir Terence Matthews acquired The Manor House in 1980, after it had been used for more than 30 years as a maternity hospital, the Lydia Beynon, where he himself was born.

The character of this lovely property has been retained and it now provides a total of 70 traditionally styled bedrooms, including three with four-poster beds.  In addition, The Manor House is home to Le Patio restaurant, the Cellar Bar, Residents’ Lounge, Manor Bar, Hedleys, and The Manor Suite, and is a popular venue for weddings with its romantic country house ambience.

The Manor House is set in glorious landscaped gardens, with its own parking and direct access to The Resort Hotel.

The Newbridge on Usk
The Newbridge on Usk, a 200-year-old inn, offers six stylish en-suite bedrooms, designed with comfort and elegance in mind with a distinctive design in each room. Only a short distance from the Resort itself, it is a perfect location to relax and unwind.

In an adjacent building guests will be greeted with a warm Welsh welcome in the stunning gastro-pub. Combining quaint, old worldly charm with a modern twist, it occupies an idyllic rural location sitting on the banks of the beautiful river Usk, near the charming village of Tredunnock.

Guests can enjoy the tranquil outdoors during spring and summer when the scenic garden is in bloom with an array of flowers, sounds of nature fill the air and swans sail elegantly past on the river Usk. Watch farmers at work in the rolling hills as they set out to harvest, and as the days draw in, retreat into the cosy winter hideaway and warm yourself with the roar of the open fire.

Whatever the season, one thing remains certain. You’ll receive a hearty welcome and superb food in an outstanding location.

Golf Course Information Guide

As venue for the 2010 Ryder Cup and home of The Celtic Manor Wales Open, a leading European Tour event, The Celtic Manor Resort offers some of the finest golf courses and facilities in the UK.  These include the Roman Road, The Twenty Ten Course and The Montgomerie.

There is also a world-class golf academy featuring a floodlit driving range, practice range, golf shop and teaching bays and two luxurious golf clubhouses, The Twenty Ten Clubhouse and The Lodge with its own bar, restaurant, health club and spa.

The Twenty Ten Course

Built to stage The Ryder Cup in 2010, the course opened for play in July 2007.  The first course to be built specifically for golf's greatest team tournament, it measures a robust 7,493 yards off the back tees and has a par of 71.

With water hazards on half of its holes, the course has six signature holes and presents many more memorable tests and risk-and-reward dilemmas. One of the features of the spectacular new course is its variety with many of the earlier holes having a links-like feel with some long rough and greenside swales, before the middle section of the course reveals the full extent of the lake-lined challenge.

A tough finishing stretch culminates in a real sting in the tail at the 18th.

The Roman Road Course

Roman Road, the first of the Resort’s courses, opened in 1995 and was ranked ‘the top inland course in Wales’ by Golf Monthly Magazine.  Overlooking the Severn Estuary with views across to Somerset and Devon, it was designed by Robert Trent Jones Snr and is named after the many Roman roads that criss-cross it, the design shaped to avoid disrupting any remains.

The Roman Road course was the host venue in 2005, 2006 and 2007 for The Celtic Manor Wales Open and the 2005 and 2006 All*Star Cup which over the two years of the event has featured celebrities such as Catherine Zeta Jones, Michael Douglas, Ronan Keating, Chris Evans, Jodie Kidd, Bruce Forsyth, William Baldwin, Alice Cooper, Meat Loaf, James Nesbitt and Jane Seymour.

6515 Yards          Par 69          Championship Parkland

The Montgomerie

Designed by Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie, the course measures 6,371 yards and has a par of 69. The front nine takes as its framework the starting and closing holes of the old Wentwood Hills championship course which were not part of the plans for the new course for The Ryder Cup. The back nine has been created from scratch on land that previously housed the 18-hole Coldra Woods academy course.

Throughout the new course, Montgomerie has put his own stamp on the layout. A traditionalist in design terms, the eight-time European No 1 has added deep pot bunkers to give the course a linksy look.

Spectacular views abound with dramatic tee shots over valleys and breathtaking downhill shots. Two long par fives, a number of short par fours and several testing par threes all add up to an exciting and rewarding challenge.
