Newport Sands is situated in Pembrokeshire's Coastal National Park. They are just a 5 minute drive from the wonderfully picturesque town of Newport, nestled under Carningli (Mountain of the Angels) on the Nevern Estuary.

Even if you are not a golf fanatic the resort's unique ambience has been enhanced with the development of their luxurious four-star accommodation which makes Newport links a premier all round venue for golf and relaxing family breaks.

All with beautiful sea views, the accommodation comprises of a mix of twin-bedded or double rooms.

All rooms are non-smoking with ensuite facilities, daily maid services, tea and coffee making facilities.

Packages can be catered for with meals being served in the Carningli suite which also has stunning views of the golf course and Newport Bay.

Aside from the stunning scenery on all sides and the usual climatological challenges of a true links course, Newport also has an interesting history.

The club was was founded in 1925 and its original 9 hole course was designed by the famous James Braid, 5-times British Open Championship winner in the early years of the 20th century. When Braid retired from competition he turned his expertise to course design, especially in Scotland. Some extremely notable courses in whose remodelling he assisted include Gleneagles, Carnoustie and Royal Troon.

The golf course itself was also thoughtfully upgraded when in 2008 the addition of a further 9 holes was completed, to bring the Newport easily up to a comparable standard with the best links courses in the UK.
