The Vale Resort, Glamorgan

The Vale Resort is situated in over 650 acres of beautiful Welsh countryside and has now established itself as one of the UK’s most desirable golfing destinations.  It has also recently become the highest 4* rated hotel in Wales and has an AA rosette for its Vale Grill restaurant.

The resort was once part of the Hensol Castle estate which was a 17th century stately home but is now a 143 bedroom hotel of a 4* rating.  The majority of the rooms offer superb views over the surrounding countryside.  The Vale has been designed so that it maximises the comfort and convenience of every type of golfer.

As well as the great facilities and golf courses, the Vale Resort owns one of Wales’ largest spa’s with 19 therapy rooms which offer an extensive range of indulging treatments.  This spa is a great place for golfers and non golfers to relax and get pampered in a wonderful peaceful setting.  Residents also have use of the first class leisure facilities that include a 20m pool, fitness studio, squash courts, tennis courts and a large state of the art gymnasium.

Golf facilities here also include a teaching academy, 16-bay floodlight driving range, putting greens, a well stocked pro-shop plus a fleet of buggies.

The Lake Course

The well-established and aptly named par 72 Lake Course – which has staged numerous Wales and West PGA professional championships - is dominated by a 20-acre lake and has water coming into play on 12 of its holes. Its 8th hole looks down over the largest heronry in Wales. Its unique signature hole, The Island Green (12th), is ranked one of UK golf courses top golf holes.

The Wales National

The Wales National is one of the longest golf courses outside of the USA. At a par 73, this course is a massive 7,433 yards off the Championship tees. Opened in 2003 and constructed to USGA standards it is one of the UK and Europe’s newest championship courses.

The Wales National has already hosted Europro and Challenge Tour events and it was the venue for the Sky – televised FIRSTPLUS Wales seniors Open in June 2006 and the Wales Challenge tour in 2007.
